Aion 2 Gear Transfer Guide: the Cheap Level 36 Trick

What Gear Transfer moves

Gear Transfer is under Enhancement. It moves a piece's enhance level and Soul Binding lines onto another piece of the same slot or weapon type, replaces that piece's own enhance level, and uses up the old piece.

• Moves: the enhance level and the Soul Binding lines, the four random lines you Reset, Sync and Bind.
• Doesn't move: the Soul Fuse line, the one extra line Soul Fuse adds with 2 Philosopher's Stones; it is lost with the old piece. Nor do the stones in the sockets. The game doesn't say whether the Binding Rate moves.
• The old piece must be Soul Bound by you, and not equipped, locked or in a preset. A piece at 100% Binding Rate can be moved, whatever some guides say: we checked the game files, which refuse only gear that hasn't been Soul Bound.
• Only up the tiers. The game groups gear in three tiers, and a piece moves onto its own tier or a higher one:

Item-level-36 gear is tier 1, so it moves onto any item-level-86 piece of its slot.

What the level 36 trick saves

Enhancing has the same chances at item level 36 and 86, 100% to +10, then 65, 50, 35, 25 and 20% for each level to +15, and costs about 42% as much. Expected costs, failures included:

To +15 that is 7,314,094 Kina and 93,424 Enhance Stones saved per piece, less what the item-level-36 piece and the Transfer Stones cost you. Soul Binding saves nothing: Bind and Reset cost the same at both item levels (2,130,000 Kina and 408 Soul Codex for ten Binds, 300,000 Kina and 3 Soul Codex: Reset a Reset).

How to do the level 36 trick

1. Get item-level-36 Unique pieces of the slots you want: Wisdom (Elyos) or Fantasy (Asmodian) from the fields, Tranquility from the Abyss. Field and Abyss drops trade until they're Soul Bound, so the Market has them (it needs membership); the ones from Shugo Festival key cubes and Duty Quests are bound to you. The necklace, earrings and ring come only as Tranquility.
2. Soul Bind each piece once to see its lines. A fresh piece shows its four lines only on its first Soul Binding, which also makes it untradable. Keep a piece with a line its slot chases (see the best stats guide); the rest are Sync material or Transfer Stones.
3. Enhance the piece you keep, to +15 if you can afford it.
4. Make the Transfer Stones in Substance Morph, from spare Unique pieces: item-level-36 pieces count. You need two to move onto tier-3 gear.
5. Transfer onto a fresh item-level-86 piece of the same slot or weapon type: +0 and never Transferred onto. A piece can take a lower tier's lines only on its first Transfer.
6. Finish on the item-level-86 piece: Amplify, Sync and Bind it there, as the best stats guide's When to Soul Bind says. Item-level-36 gear can't be Amplified.

Pick the weapon to move onto by its lines. A piece with fewer lines than the old one keeps only that many, at random. Item-level-36 gear has four:

Every other item-level-86 Unique piece has four lines, crafted gear five.

The lines on item-level-36 gear

Item-level-36 gear rolls the same lines as item-level-86 gear on every slot, at the same chances: the Reset and Sync odds in the best stats guide hold on it. Its ranges are about 72% of item level 86's:

The game's Transfer text doesn't say whether a moved line keeps its item-level-36 value or takes the new piece's range.

FAQ

Can a piece at 100% Binding Rate be Transferred? Yes. The game refuses only a piece that hasn't been Soul Bound.

Does Soul Fuse transfer? No. The extra line Soul Fuse adds with Philosopher's Stones stays on the old piece and is lost with it, so Soul Fuse only the piece you keep. The Soul Binding lines do move.

Does Transfer cost Kina? No. One Transfer Stone (Unique) (Bound), or two onto Abyssal, Enraged Kromede, Nuakum and Guardian Lord Nahma gear.

Where do Transfer Stones come from? Substance Morph turns spare Unique pieces into them, item-level-36 pieces included.

Can I move item-level-86 gear onto item-level-36 gear? No. Transfer goes only onto the same tier or a higher one.

Is there a limit? The game counts your Transfers each season and stops them past a cap, but doesn't show the cap.
