From the Global client, launcher version 27 · Updated
For every class and both factions on the Global release.
An alt is a second character on the same server as your main. Aion 2 doesn't make you play one. This guide says when an alt is worth it, what it shares with your main and what it starts from scratch, and how to set one up with as little repeated work as possible.
Do you need alts? No. At Conquest 2★ your main's own Odyle pays 6,300,000 Kina a week; buying all the extra Odyle it can raises that to at least 11,300,000 in about 7 hours of Conquest (dungeon time only), or 15,300,000 in about 5 hours with membership, as the Kina farming guide works out. What an alt adds is Kina, and Soul Crystals for the Genus Insight boards you share, since pets, skins and feathers are already shared; that Kina speeds up your main's gearing, which shows most if you race other players. Our pick, if you want that Kina, is main + 2 alts: at least 25,480,000 Kina a week for about 15 hours of Conquest as a free player (how many alts pay). Each alt first climbs to 1,400 gear score on its own, and its four biggest upgrades alone cost 4,434,860 Kina and 177,070 Enhance Stones. How long that takes varies widely with experience; a casual player might need a few days per alt. With 3 to 5 hours a week, play your main only: the Kina guide covers its week and the gear score guide its climb.
What an alt shares with your main
Almost everything shared is shared by server, not by account: every character on one server has it, and a character on another server doesn't. Founder's Pack cosmetics are the exception: since 7 October 2026 the pack's title and skins work on every character, on any server (NC's patch notes); its 30-day membership and chests stay one-time (NC's notice).
Shared by every character on your server
- Pets, pet levels and Genus Insight. An alt never re-collects your pets, and every character levels the same boards.
- Closet skins and their collection bonus.
- Feathers. At the Monolith, Sync Empyrean Traces brings over the feathers your server has already collected.
- Special Quai Membership. One covers every character on the server.
- Attendance.
- The server's allowances, used by all its characters together: Daily Duties, the Daily Dungeon, Shugo Festival keys, Odyle buys (each character adds a few), the Sealed Wings morph and the weekly count of Conquest and Transcendence runs.

Each character's own
- Level, story quests, skills and Stigmas.
- Gear and gear score.
- Odyle Energy: 15 every 3 hours, 840 a week.
- Nightmare and Ascension Trial entries.
- Season Missions.
Through Server Storage
- Moves: tradeable Kina, and gear from dungeons, crafting and the Market. Put it in on one character and take it out on another. Gear Soul Bound to your main still moves, to be enhanced, but only your main can wear it.
- Never moves: Kina (Bound), Quna, Abyss Points, quest gear, and the Spiritforged weapon and guard.

How to make an alt
- Make it on your main's server. Server Storage, membership and everything shared above stay on one server. Each server has 4 character slots free and 4 more to buy, and holds one faction, so your alt is your main's faction too.
- Pick a class you'll keep. Global sells no class change as of 9 October 2026, though the game files include a paid Class Change service, so NC may add one. The class matters less than it seems: a claim pays the same Kina for every class, every class wears the same armour, and an alt can enhance gear it can't wear. If you're unsure, pick a healer or tank, a Cleric, Chanter or Templar: a group short of one takes it at a lower gear score. Otherwise play your main's class again. You already know it, your main's spare dungeon weapons fit it, and its weapon skins count toward your Closet's collection bonus, which another class's don't.
Open its Odyle at level 22
- Play the story to the quest that opens Expeditions: Wind Breeze Merchants for Elyos, Daeva in a Dream for Asmodians, at about level 22. The quest opens them, not the level.
- Let its Odyle fill while you play your main. It comes back at 15 every 3 hours and stops at 560, or 840 with membership: 14 claims waiting when the alt is ready, or 21. Its count is at the top right of the Expedition window.

Level 45 and the first claim
- Finish the story to level 45. Follow our leveling guide for Elyos or Asmodians. At each Monolith, Sync Empyrean Traces first, and skip the feather hunt.
- At 700 gear score, claim Conquest 1★: 200,000 tradeable Kina a claim.
- Take it to 1,400 gear score before you farm it, with the gear score guide: Conquest 2★ pays 300,000 a claim. Until then, spend only the Odyle that would overflow, at Conquest 1★. The Kina guide shows how soon 1,400 pays for itself.
- Send it gear your main doesn't need. Every class wears the same armour, so a spare piece that isn't Soul Bound can go to the alt through Server Storage and be worn there; weapons fit only the same class. Check the tooltip for both: whether it can go into Server Storage, and whether it's Soul Bound.

Before an alt earns 300,000 a claim: level 1 to 45, then 1,400 gear score.
Our pilots take the setup grind off your hands while you play your main.

How an alt's Kina reaches your main

Daily Duties stay on your main. The 5 a day are the server's, and their bound Kina is worth most on the character you're gearing.
How an alt levels your Genus Insight
The Genus Insight boards belong to the server, so an alt can Analyze them with its own Soul Crystals and Kina, and every line it rolls is your main's too. Soul Crystals can't go into Server Storage, so spend them on the character that earned them.
Each character earns its own:
- Daeva Pass, free track: 220.
- Daeva Pass, premium track: 550 more, for 1,500 Quna, bought on each character.
- Arena's Season Missions: 30 and 40 a week, and 140 to 220 at the season's kill tiers.
- Shugo Festival shop: 100 for 50 Centuryroot Tokens, up to 30 times a month on each character. The tokens come from the Shugo Festival, which runs once an hour for one of your characters, so tokens run out before alts do.
- Hidden Cube keys from the Quna Shop: 3 a day on each character, at 50 Quna each (about 130,000 Kina at the Quna Exchange). A key opens a cube for 1,000 Soul Crystals, if the alt can find one, and spending those costs 250,000 Kina in Analyze fees. Worth it if you already hunt cubes: where they spawn.
The server earns the rest once, whichever character collects them: the launch attendance, pet milestones and pet achievements, Wanted quests (Daily Duties) and the Wind Breeze Merchants' 1,000 a week.
What a board costs to level, and which to level first: the pets and Genus guide.
The weekly Kina cut, or "alt nerf"
The game counts every Conquest and Transcendence run on your server each week, all your characters together. After 84 Conquest runs or 56 Transcendence runs, cubes pay less Kina, down to 20%. That's what limits how many alts pay, not a cap on characters. The Kina guide has the steps and how to work around them.
A run counts once, however many times its cube is claimed: one Conquest run claimed twice moves the count from 11 to 12.

Global's one newer limit: since 7 October, morphing Sealed Wings into Enhance Stones is capped at 20 a week for the whole server (NC's patch notes), so alts can't multiply it.
Korea has gone further. On the Korean servers, NC has made dungeon Kina bound, dungeon by dungeon. Season 3 (8 April 2026) did it for Conquest 1★ and 2★, half of Conquest 3★, Exploration, and the Deus Research Base and Shattered Arkanis Transcendence dungeons, and cut full Kina to 63 Conquest runs a week; 26 August added more dungeons. Bound Kina can't go into Server Storage, so there an alt's dungeon Kina reaches the main mostly by enhancing its gear. None of this is on Global: here Conquest and Transcendence pay tradeable Kina and the cut starts at 84 Conquest runs. We'll update this guide if it comes.
When an alt isn't worth it
- You play 3 to 5 hours a week. Spend your main's own Odyle: 21 claims in about 3.5 hours, 6,300,000 Kina at Conquest 2★.
- For pets or skins you own. Your alt already has them; for Genus Insight it adds only its own Soul Crystals.
- On the other faction. It needs another server, which shares none of your main's progress or storage.
- Past the second alt, as a free player short of time. Each free alt after the second adds less Kina for the same hours; with membership the first three alts add the same. The Kina guide's tables show both.
